PRISM Scholarship at Savannah State

The Proactive Recruitment in Introductory Science and Mathematics (PRISM) Program is funded by a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation. Our program provides up to $3,500 per year to highly qualified freshmen and sophomores enrolled at Savannah State University. In addition to the financial award, our scholars receive weekly mentoring, attend monthly seminars and participate in a summer program (the summer component would be held in summer 2012). Incoming freshmen are eligible to continue in the program through their sophomore year as long as they have been compliant with scholarship requirements. All scholars are expected to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Ideal high school candidates are those who:

 1)      Intend to enroll at Savannah State University in fall 2011 and intend to major in a STEM discipline

2)      Have the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA or more
3)      Have obtained an SAT score of 1000 and above or an ACT score of 19 and above

In addition to completing the application, 3 letters of recommendation, a personal statement, transcripts and official standardized test scores must be submitted. We are hoping to offer at least 20 scholarships to highly qualified incoming freshmen in fall 2011.
