The Devil on Trial: Witches, Anarchists, Atheists, Communists, and Terrorists in America's Courtrooms by Phillip Marguilies

THE DEVIL ON TRIAL takes the reader on a journey through the evolving justice system of the United States. A fact-based reference; the authors use five very distinct historical trials to demonstrate the changing cultures as our country grew from the days of the Puritans to post-September 11, 2001. More

A Savage Thunder: Antietam and the Bloody Road to Freedom by Jim Murphy
This was a very engaging and informative book, which is what I expected since it was written by Jim Murphy. His inclusion of direct quotes from participants, photographs, and battle maps for the different generals added to the book’s appeal and effectiveness. I love history, but I can’t rattle off lots of facts about the Civil War. More

Black and White Airmen: Their True History by John Fleishman
John and Herb were twenty-one when the United States entered WWII. Herb became an Army Air Forces B-17 bomber pilot. John flew P-51 fighters. Both were thrown into the brutal high-altitude bomber war against Nazi Germany, though they never met because the army was rigidly segregated—only in the air were black and white American fliers allowed to mix.
